Saturday Spotlight: What Should I Eat Today?

Just about one month past it’s first birthday, Facebook page “What Should I Eat Today? (오늘 뭐 먹지?)” has amassed a following of over 2 million likes. What is this page? It’s officially described as a community center, food consultant, and restaurant — but in plain terms, this Facebook page is a mastery of foodporn.

This page helps you pick what to eat, whether through restaurant recommendations or suggestions for home-cooked meals. Each post includes an album of photos as well as a story about the diner/photographer, the source of the food, and even the cost. They are real meals eaten by real fans that submit their experiences to the Facebook page. There are even city-specific versions of this page, but generally it is for any and all food eaten in South Korea. All cuisines, meals, snacks, and flavors are welcome. The past 24 hours saw an astonishing 15 posts including desserts, candy, beverages, sushi, and even canned food.

The page publishes entirely in Korean, but Google Translate is an acceptable way to get the necessary information. The focus is on the photos, anyway. The fact that What Should I Eat Today is on Facebook only is interesting, as a blog or website could be a more suitable and more profitable outlet. But the page makes a great addition to a Facebook newsfeed.

The site’s link is facebook.com/greedeat, and submissions are sent to email greedeat@naver.com. Can you tell that the people who run the page are fans of indulgence?
